BRIO Mighty Red Locomotive description

A motorized, fire engine red locomotive that will get even the most stubborn loads up and over the hill, including an 8 car train! This muscular power plant is packed with features. Flip on the power switch and press the yellow button in front and it roars ahead into action, train whistle blowing, engine chugging and the powerful double headlamp in front lighting the way. Another button sends it in reverse, "Clang, Clang" warns the bell with a flashing red rear light warning the unaware. A third button avoids trouble by bringing it to an emergency stop. It's perfectly sized and simple enough for the 3 year old train enthusiast to operate. And, if it doesn't get called into action after 5 minutes it shuts off automatically to save battery life. Help I'm Stuck!
This engine is great fun ... as long as you don't use it on BRIO's own train tracks. The locomotive is bright red, it toots and whistles and has two headlights that will brighten up your kid's eyes. Unfortunately, it also needs lots of handholding, because it gets stuck quite often. In curves, especially going in reverse and up hills. The mighty red locomotive is a little too mighty and could use a slimming diet. I'm returning mine. A much better choice is the yellow engine which is also battery driven ... and uses just one AAA battery.
